And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself [a]wisely: so that Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.

¶ When they came again, and David returned from the slaughter of the [b]Philistine, the women came out of all cities of Israel singing and dancing to meet king Saul, with timbrels, with instruments of joy, and with rebecks.

And the women [c]sang by course in their play, and said, (A)Saul hath slain his thousand, and David his ten thousand.
